Anonymous said: did you watch bts ahl?? i saw on twitter that jin said america is a scary country..wtf i feel like now thier impressions of U.S. is this place is ghetto..i dont want them being scared of black people now and i want them to realize the kidnapping was fake and a joke???

tvjojo:

…they definitely realized the kidnapping was a joke….

as for jin’s tweet, he tweeted before it broadcasted so i think he just wanted people to be anxious for the first episode

But beyond all that, the purpose of this show was to show BTS real hip hop, and I don’t know if you’re aware, but hip hop started in “the ghetto”. Hip hop/rap music was developed in struggling areas where POC (particularly black people) were surrounded by violence and poverty and a society that did nothing to help as a way for people to express themselves. It didn’t begin in white suburbia nor did it begin in kpop. This show was made to tell BTS (and other “hip-hop” kpop groups, for that matter) that, hey, if you wanna talk the talk you need to walk the walk. Hip hop and rap are/were a lifestyle and movement, not a concept.

and ya know what? if they’re that scared of black people after spending 2 weeks with only black folks, then they don’t need to be basing their professions around our music and our culture.
